African Black Soap "Alata Samina"

African black soap – natural soap made from cocoa pods and plant oils.

Black soap is a natural soap originating from West Africa. It is gentle and suitable for all skin types, as it contains excellent natural ingredients. 

African black soap from the FutuNatura brand is a hard soap with a marbled brown colour and is traditionally produced naturally, without further processing. It contains:

• palm oil,
• coconut oil,
• shea butter,
• active ingredients obtained from the husks of cocoa pods (Theobroma cacao).

The soap is made solely from plant oils and cocoa pod husks and does not contain sulphates, colourings, or artificial fragrances. In cosmetics, it is considered a versatile soap, as it can be used for the care of:

In the African local dialect, the soap is called Alata Samina, where “Alata” means “chilli pepper”, and the term is also used for “chilli sellers”, and “Samina” means “soap”. The soap was brought to the present-day region of Ghana from the area of Nigeria – women who sold chillies brought it there. The name Alata Samina therefore roughly translates to “soap of the chilli sellers”.
